Abstract

Despite the research on evaluating the role of information system capabilities on organizational performance, the mechanism of this impact is still neglected, especially in the context of project-based organizations. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the role of information system capabilities in achieving organizational performance by evaluating the mediating role of business process performance and decision-making performance in project-based organizations. The target population of the present study is all companies supplying auto parts and based on the sampling, the research questionnaire was distributed among 108 managers of the mentioned companies. The research hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling and partial least squares method. The results showed that information system capability had a positive and significant effect on decision making performance and decision-making performance had a positive and significant effect on business process performance. The analysis also showed that decision-making performance played a mediating role in the relationship between information system capabilities and business process performance, as well as in relation to these capabilities and organizational performance. Finally, the findings confirmed the mediating role of decision-making performance and business process performance in the relationship between information system capabilities and organizational performance.
